Our Events
The WPA offers a wide variety of academic and social events throughout each semester. Whether you're looking for help with classes, networking opportunities, or connecting with other psychology students, there are so many opportunities available! Click the link to see our upcoming events this month, or check out the list below for past events we have hosted.
Social and Networking Events

Our social and networking events are some of our most popular! They give students the chance to meet profs, learn about research labs, learn about various opportunities, and meet like-minded students!

NETWORKING NIGHT
Networking night is our biggest annual event of the year! Filled with fantastic food and good company, this night is the perfect opportunity to get to know professors, graduate students, TAs, and other students in psychology. Whether you intend to get a research position or just want to spend the night chatting away, we hope to see you there!

ASIST TRAINING
The LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the gold standard of evidence-based suicide prevention training. Get trained to assist someone at risk for suicide and make a difference in your community.

GRAD NIGHT
Grad Night is a great event for those looking to pursue graduate school - or for those who have no idea what it is and want more information! Listen to current graduate students chat about their different programs, how to build a solid application, and how to find relevant experience.
"TED" TALKS
Yeah, we all hear our professors talk in lecture, where we take notes and have to study the material for exams. But what if you could listen to your favourite professors talk about fascinating psychology topics without the pressure of midterms? These TedTALK-esque events allow students to hear about cool research going on outside the classroom, but right on their own campus!

DINNER WITH A PROF
Yeah, office hours exist, but having dinner with a prof is a whole other experience that is more than worth checking out. This event allows you and a small group of 7-8 others to eat a delicious meal with a prof and get the chance to ask any questions you might have for them, or just have a fun conversation! It's a great opportunity to get to know your prof outside of a formal classroom, especially when lecture halls are massive.

Our academic events are created and ran to help support students reach and exceed their academic and personal goals. Whether you're looking for a fun way to prepare for an exam or advice about classes or modules, we strive to make your life a little easier through these events!

STATS STUDY SESSION
We all know stats can be a tricky second year course. Instead of spending hours in the library trying to learn p values again, why not make studying slightly more fun? Test your knowledge and get a review of the semester by coming to a WPA stats study session! These events are run by upper years ready to answer your questions, along with trivia and great prizes.

LAB TOURS
Do you want to learn more about what psychology labs are like? Have a list of burning questions about research? Join us for an exclusive lab tour session, where grad students from the lab will share their experiences and current projects!

FIRST YEAR PSYCH STUDY SESSION
There's nothing more frustrating than cramming a semester's worth of content into your head while studying for 4 or 5 other exams simultaneously. Why not make studying fun by coming out to our trivia study sessions? Primarily for Psych 1002 and 1003, these trivia nights are a great way to destress with other psychology students while still absorbing the content...weird, but convenient, right?
